Tour program

Day 1

  • Depart from school in the morning, arriving in Toruń around noon.
  • Guided tour of the Old Town, during which we will see, among other things:
    • Monastery Gate
    • Leaning Tower
    • Old city walls
    • Nicolaus Copernicus House (tour from the outside)
    • St. John’s Cathedral
    • Statue of Nicolaus Copernicus
    • “pillory” donkey
    • Old Town Hall
    • Fountain Flisak
    • Tenement House under the Star
    • Gingerbread Avenue of the Stars
  • Enter the ruins of the Teutonic castle, learn about the history of the Teutonic Order and the daily life of the monastic knights.
  • The tour also includes a visit to a Teutonic toilet and discovering the secrets of the knights.
  • Break for lunch (optional) and time to buy souvenirs and gingerbread.
  • Participation in a gingerbread baking workshop and a knight’s workshop:
    • Move back in time to medieval Torun and take on the role of gingerbread students.
    • Learning the secrets of old recipes and making gingerbread on their own.
    • Stories about the life of knights, the opportunity to try on costumes and hold a real sword.
    • The bravest participants can earn the title of knight squire.
  • Return in the evening hours.
